This exhibit showcased paintings, drawings, lithographs, and mixed media works, all created through direct observation. Sketches from Cynthia's sketchbooks were displayed alongside finished pieces, offering insight into her artistic process—a lifelong journey of exploration and discovery through drawing.
A separate gallery space exhibited sketchbooks and sketches selected from over 400 created throughout her career.
"Cynthia Maurice has been a member of Galatea Fine Art since 2015 and we feel proud and fortunate to present a retrospective of her work. Over time, Maurice’s rich, traditional painting style in oil has evolved to convey a bold, contemporary sensibility—many examples of which are included in this retrospective exhibit."

Reflections featured two main series of Cynthia Maurice’s work. One captured urban scenes in Reading, PA, as viewed from the third-story studio she rented during her stay in 1999–2000. The other focused on tranquil, reflective surfaces of ponds, creating a more rural atmosphere. Both series offer a deeply observed perspective on their environments.
Her realistic oil paintings of Reading are meticulously layered, evoking an Old-World style with academic precision. In contrast, her drawings highlight the seemingly random structures of urban architecture, infused with echoes of past and present industry. Each piece is rigorously studied and carefully rendered.
The Pond Series consists of paintings that depict trees and sky reflected in rippling water. These wall-sized works mimic in their dimensions a quiet grandeur that takes you in like bodies of water themselves. Dark and mysterious, they straddle the line between abstraction and reality—intended to be perceived as realistic yet subtly deceptive in their presentation.
