Exhibits of Note
Cynthia Maurice, Fresh Cut New Work, Danforth Museum of Art, Framingham, MA 2010
Off the Wall, Danforth Museum of Art, Framingham, MA 2010
Fresh Cut, Newton Free Library, Newton, MA 2009
The vegetable drawings began with a small painting of radishes, gradually evolving into a fusion of abstraction and representation. This series allowed Maurice to challenge herself in new, deeply personal ways. A sense of daring emerges as she explores new approaches, scales, and mediums, pushing the boundaries of what defines drawing.
"The boldness of making a mark on the page—one that cannot be undone—mirrors the challenge of drawing from observation. While the intention may be to capture what is 'real,' the outcome is always unexpected."
